Golf
Locust Hill is widely recognized as one of the country's premier golf courses, boasting a par 72, 6,615-yard layout with narrow fairways and challenging greens. The course has a rating of 72.8 and a slope rating of 138.
When Locust Hill expanded from nine to eighteen holes in 1927, they commissioned Seymour Dunn, a prominent Scottish golf course architect, to design the course. The Scottish tradition inspired the naming of Locust Hill's golf course holes (see Course Tour). When the course was completed, the committee dubbed the 18th hole "All Dunn" in response to a theory that Robert Trent Jones had participated in the design - Jones had simply visited the property as a Cornell student.
Locust Hill members enjoy the lush fairways, challenging greens, and strategically positioned tee boxes for golfers of all skill levels. Whether they are scratch golfers, low handicappers, or high handicappers, the course's adaptability enables every member of the family to have fun on the course. For over thirty years, Locust Hill hosted a stop on the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) tour, including hosting the LPGA Championship for four years.
Locust Hill has a long history of charitable giving, with the Rochester Jaycees hosting a Charity Pro-Am tournament at the club in 1966, featuring Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Doug Sanders, and Bruce Devlin. After their rounds, Nicklaus drove the green on a 360-yard par 4 and two-putted for birdie, while Palmer holed out for eagle on the 466-yard eighth hole, both expressing their admiration for our Rochester Championship Golf Course. In recent years Locust Hill has hosted it’s annual Give Back tournament that has supported veteran’s organizations in the Rochester region.
Locust Hill Country Club remains committed to this tradition, hosting numerous charity golf outings every season. Please contact our Weddings and Events team for more information on hosting your next golf event at Locust Hill.
